Bee Venom Therapy

Bee Venom Therapy (BVT) has been practiced for ages. There are ancient Chinese texts dating back 2,000 years old that speak on the use of bee venom, as well as accounts of the ancient Egyptians and Greeks using bee venom as a medicine. One of the earliest clinical trials was performed in 1888 by Austrian physician Phillip Terc on the use of bee stings for rheumatoid arthritis. Since then there are many published studies on the effects and use of bee venom as a healing method for many different ailments including rheumatism, psoriasis and eczema, Lyme disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and even breast cancer.

If you’ve found yourself here and are curious about the potential healing benefits of bee venom therapy, I invite you to schedule a consultation with me to explore whether this method is a good fit for you. Please note, however, that if you have a bee allergy, this therapy is not recommended for your safety.

How is BVT administered?

Bee Venom Therapy is a specialized form of apitherapy. The way it is administered is referred to as apipuncture. Apipuncture is the use of bee venom via a bee’s stinger along meridian points on the body. The stimulation of these specific points activates afferent nerves at the acupoint site, thus stimulating an immune response in that area of the body. Sometimes the stingers are used in an affected area not specific to meridians, for instance in eczema and psoriasis cases.

Who is Bee Venom therapy for?

Bee Venom Therapy is for anyone with a chronic ailment that is seeking healing through a natural means. BVT can help with chronic inflammation, skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, arthritis or rheumatic diseases, immune disorders, and even depression and anxiety.

How does bee venom work?

Bee Venom is scientifically known as Apitoxin and is made up of bioactive compounds, including melittin, adolapin, and phospholipase A2, which have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and analgesic properties. The venom stimulates the immune system and allows for these healing properties to take place in the area of the body where the immune response has been stagnant.
