I’m Alex, founder of Alma Apiary
The bees came to me in a moment of divine timing. What seemed like a small spark of curiosity about bees and their role in the world has led me down the road to what I now know to be my life’s work. Through the bees I aim to be a steward of the one true Mother, to harness and respect life and offer my services to help heal the Earth.
Tending to honey bees was only the beginning of my relationship with these kindred spirits. After 4 years of experience keeping bees, I discovered a more spiritual path involving the honey bee. Through this deepening of understanding the honey bee as an enigma and symbol of wisdom I am able to work with the bees not only on a physical level but also metaphysically. The name for my company- Alma - means soul in Spanish. This is a representation for the work that deeply feeds and nourishes my soul, and I hope to bring reciprocity into the world of the bees and give back what they have given me.
My way of beekeeping is rooted in bee-centric practices. My goal is to harness a relationship that supports the bees and the greater environment. I aim to connect with nature and allow its innate intelligence to thrive. This practice goes deeper than just natural beekeeping practices— it is a means to connect the soul with the land; to truly listen, and give back to the bees and to the land what they have given us.
In 2024 I made the goal to become an Apitherapy practitioner. I wanted to help heal people that suffer from a myriad of ailments through natural means. I was already well versed in the healing effects of the highly medicinal, edible products from the hive, but wanted a deeper dive on the healing effects of bee venom and how to administer it safely. In May of 2024 I studied in Portugal under Antonio Couto, a well known Apitherapist in the Apitherapy community with over twenty-five years experience.
